Role Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Geospatial Surveyor to join our Infrastructure Division, supporting rail and highways projects nationwide from our Harpenden office. This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor with rail experience who wants to work with advanced technology on projects for clients such as Network Rail and London Underground.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality survey data in specialist rail and highway environments, using laser scanning, UAS (drones) and Amberg track trolleys alongside traditional survey techniques. Working closely with the Lead Surveyor, Project Managers and clients, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, safe and compliant survey outputs while continuing to develop your career within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Working with the Lead Surveyor and Project Manager to choose the most suitable technology and methods for each project
- Carrying out all surveying and technical aspects of assigned projects to company standards for quality, health and safety
- Taking ownership of allocated parts of projects, including logistics
- Checking survey data and deliverables against specification and accuracy requirements, and resolving discrepancies before submission for review
- Managing project data in line with company protocols, from capture through to final delivery
- Reporting progress to the project team so deadlines and budgets are met
- Coordinating with other site teams and subcontractors, and supporting junior surveyors
- Working nationwide, with night work and working away from home for around 50% of the month; weekend shifts are available most weekends
What We’re Looking For
- Around 3–5 years’ surveying experience, ideally in a rail environment
- A relevant qualification in surveying and/or civil engineering
- Strong experience in traditional survey techniques, including control traverses, levelling and GNSS
- Experience with survey and CAD software; N4ce, Cyclone and AutoCAD are advantageous
- Organised, self-motivated and able to solve problems under pressure
- Full UK manual driving licence (company vehicles available)
- CSCS card required; PTS and LU-WSSI desirable, with company-supported training available
